The Black Flute (Japanese: くろいビードロ Black Vidro) is a type of item introduced in Generation III. It is one of the flutes.

In the core series games

In the Generation V games, the Black Flute can be sold to the billionaire maniac in Undella Town for $8000.

When used in the field, it reduces wild Pokémon encounter rate by 50%. This effect lasts until a map transition takes place.

The Black Flute serves no practical purpose other than to be sold.

When used in the field, it increases the level of wild Pokémon by 1 to 4 levels. The effect disappears when the player leaves the area.

In Serving Up the Flute Cup!, a Black Flute was included in the set of flutes promised for the winner of the Battle Frontier Flute Cup, which was eventually won by Ash.
